Members Area / Members Area Plug-In

Websites can be used not only as information sources but also as a communication point with existing clients. By making parts of the web site only accessible to members it is possible to give preferential treatment to clients and associates. Building information collection functionality into these members areas can further enhance the sites functionality by allowing members to update their contact details, share ideas and generally communicate with you as a company.

The User Groups Plug-in will allow site editors to tag pages as belonging to set groups. If a visitor to the site tries to access a ‘group’ page they will be asked to log-in ( if they are not logged in already ). If they have been made a member of this group they will be able to access the content, if not they will be given instruction on how to join the group ( ie sent to the how to join page ).

Each user could potentially be a member of many or all groups as set-up by you. Once logged in, a preference page would allow the user to change their password and contact details. Being logged in and storing these details would also mean contact and order forms could be filled out automatically.

The above feature of members updating their details could prove to be an invaluable asset when dealing with an extremely large membership. The web site would benefit from a much-reduced role of data input. Once filled in these new contact details would be emailed to the site administrator for use in any internal databases.
